Studio Tour in Black & White
Over a few cups of coffee at the Rival Brothers coffee shop, Nicole asked if she could photograph me in my home studio. I was excited to get behind her lens. Her work is beautiful, and she was doing most of the photoshoot in black and white film. I love b&w photos. It blurs all the fuss, and only the most important details are captured. Although I sometimes feel uncomfortable taking photos, I want to have these moments in my life captured in a beautiful way. My life is blossoming right in front of me and I don't want to forget my experiences. Just as I preserve nature with my floral inspired fossils, when we look at a photograph we get to relive that moment again. I don't have many photos of me as a child, I don't even know what I look like when I was first born. All of those missed moments and memories are forever gone. I think that is why I photograph my own work and process so much and why when someone wants to photograph a part of my life I will welcome the opportunity. I want there to be proof I was here.
